2007 Corn Roast

The Inverhuron & District Ratepayers Association held its 10th Annual Corn Roast on Sept. 1.
The first corn roast was started 10 years ago in 1997. It was started by Mel McGuigan and Sheila Ogg. It has not changed much, except this year, it was held at McIntyre Park, to enable better seating and hopefully bring out people who had difficulty getting through the sand, where Sheila Ogg held it for many years on the beach at her cottage
Our hats off to Sheila for all her hard work and co-operation.
Our appreciation to Mel McGuigan for his continued support as founder and MC over the years.Again this year he gave of his time to MC.
A presentation to Peter and Agnes Aunger of a plaque from IDRA and residents to honour their dedication to Inverhuron.
Over 30 years of continuous work from both, giving a dedication to the community volunteering everything that was required.
He was not only President, but Past President, secretary, treasurer, director, newsletter editor and now works on our newly established website ( www.inverhuronrate.com ).
He co-ordinated many of the events for many years Kids Day, Annual Meetings, Corn Roasts, made signs, made tables, and picked up the garbage on beach.
His continued work as a volunteer has inspired many.We hope to see other residents step forward to give back to our unique Inverhuron with all types of residents from yearly permanent, seasonal and renters.
