Snow Hazards in Kincardine-Inverhuron Area
Winter 2007

Highway 21 in the Kincardine - Tiverton is subject to many road closures during the winter due to visibility and drifting problems. The picture gallery that follows shows that highway 21 between Kincardine and Tiverton, Bruce Road 15 and Bruce Road 23 (north of Lorne Beach) have huge snowbanks as evidence of the many road closures that have occurred this year (2007) and have often occurred in the previous 40 years. Victoria Street in Inverhuron and Bruce Road 23 (south of Lorne Beach) show minimal snow banks.

Also downed electrical power poles due to strong winds in winter on the highway 21 have been a serious hazard this year and previous years.

Highway 21 is closed from Goderich to Kincardine for hydro pole repairs.
Highway 21 is closed between St. Joseph's and Bayfield due to downed hydro poles and lines.
Highway 21 is closed between Tiverton and Port Elgin due to low hanging hydro wires.
