Happy 65th Anniversary to the IDRA

The spring has a been long anticipated season after a long winter with lots of snow and cold temperatures. Finally along with a warm up, spring rains and watching the grass get greener along with the leaves starting to come out, here comes another summer season to have fun.
Inverhuron has more to offer the residents than just a great beach, parks for the kids and an expansive provincial park to explore.
It has a ratepayers association with dedicated volunteers who want to ensure that every resident gets something wonderful during their stay, short term or long term and create memories into the next generation.
But the board needs the residents to show their support and become a member.
For only $20 you can keep in touch with your summer community and goings on throughout the year.
Your $20 goes toward getting a new updated directory every 2 years, keeping equipment on hand that is in good conditon to use at our events such as gazebos and coolers. It keeps the website up and running and helps to pay for the food in events such as Games Day and the Corn Roast.
It also helps to cover costs like advertising that keeps you informed of the goings on in our community.
Your membership is an easy and beneficial way of showing your support of your community.
Take the time to get to know the members of the board if possible, we are here to make Inverhuron a wonderful place and would appreciate your feedback.
Take the time to come to our newest event WELCOME BACK PARTY FOR THE RESIDENTS!
To be held May 22nd at Gord Barrs place on the corner of John and Wood St from 3pm to 5pm. Please bring a plate of Hors d'eourves for everyone to share at this event!
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the IDRA.
The board of the IDRA is the biggest that it has been in a long time.
There is a wide range of ages on the board and so the diversity of ideas for upcoming events is exciting! But lets not stop there.
The board needs your help as members to assist with the running of the events, offer input and ideas to make our events better and of course attend the events , because there would be no need for them without the community participation.
We enjoy hosting these fun events throughout the summer for the residents of Inverhuron, but we can't do it alone.
We need help from people who are able to give a bit of their time to help us run these events.
We are not asking you to do more than you are willing or able to, only a couple of hours at one event could make the difference of an event running sucessfully or not being able torun at all.
Please contact a board member if you have any questions or would like to donate a couple hours of your time.

Fun for all at Games Day Saturday July 2nd at 11 am in McIntyre (Lower) Park

The name has changed but not the fun! Formerly known as Kids Day is now called Inverhuron Sumer Games because it is not only just about the kids, but all the adults who are kids at heart.
We will have the games in the Lower Park followed by SAND CASTLE SCULPTURE CONTEST starting at 1pm and
TUG OF WAR! starting at 2 pm at the river.
Last year there was an amazing show of creativity and it was a tough decision to determine the winners. Thanks to Peter Aunger and Marelle Evans and Drew Robertson for doing the judging!
All residents welcome to come out and participate!
Bill Stewart has taken on the great task of continuing this event this year. We thank him for stepping up and doing an awesome job!!!! Fun for all at Games Day!!! Saturday July 2nd at 11 am in McIntyre (Lower) Park

Community Yard Sale - Saturday July 16 in Inverhuron Park 9 am to 1 pm SET UP AT 8 AM

Marelle Evans will once again coordinate the Yard Sale this year.
This Yard Sale is well known for being fun and a social event where friends catch up on missed time.
Some changes include the IDRA having a bake sale table instead of collecting items from the residents to sell.
Inverhuron Park(corner of Bruce Cty. Rd. 15 and Albert Rd)
Setup 8 am Sale 9 am to1:00 pm

Safety Education Day - Monday August 1st - 10 am to 2 pm Inverhuron Park (Upper)

Forewarned is forarmed the old saying goes.
Donna Irvine from the IDRA has set up to again have the various
experts to come in and have various brochures and demonstrations, such
as proper use of a fire extinguisher.
This is to provide a way to the residents to learn how they can
protect themselves and their property in an effective way.
To be held in the Upper Park at the corner of Albert Rd. and Bruce Rd 15.
Monday August 1st starting at 10 am

Annual Meeting - September 03 starting at 10 am in McIntyre Park (Lower)

Last fall the weather forced the Annual meeting to be moved to the Tiverton’s Lions Hall.
Despite the bad weather a good turnout attended the meeting.
This year's meeting is to be held at McIntyre (Lower) Saturday Sept. 03 starting at 10 am
Bring a lawn chair

Corn Roast - September 03 starting at 6 pm in McIntyre Park (Lower)

Last fall the weather was not very conducive to hosting the Annual event, the Corn Roast. It was necessary to think outside of the box. We held the event in Tiverton at the Lions Hall instead of the lower park to be able to have a dry place to have fun. There were interactive games with the kids and adults, dancing, good food and lots of laughs.
We are looking foward to repeating this wonderful event.
The weather will determne where this event will be held.
This is the 65th Anniversary of the IDRA so we are inviting the past presidents to join us at the corn roast this year.
